Sagra Italiana is Scotland’s authentic Italian festival offering a showcase of premium Italian food, drink and live music.
For the 2nd year we took over over George Square in Glasgow over the weekend of Friday 31st May, Saturday 1stand Sunday 2nd June 2019 .
Over 21,000 people enjoyed the drink, food and warmth of Italian hospitality in George Square on the second year!
Sagra Italiana is dedicated to all Italians, Scots, Italo-Scots, tourists, Italophiles and foodies who want to celebrate Italy in the city!
In Italy, Sagra is a local festival characterised by community tradition, live music and, most importantly, food and drink; Italy sees thousands of sagre taking place over the summer period, so UK’s first was right here in Scotland.
I had a great time opening Glasgow’s first Sagra Italiana celebrating our city’s enduring Scottish-Italian links. It was a wonderful event featuring Italian music, food and drink and the people and passions of that country. My congratulations to everyone involved and my thanks to all those who showed up to support the event and celebrate our connections.
I was honoured to be asked to open the first Sagra Italiana held in George Square, Glasgow. I found the event to have a friendly atmosphere and of course it was blessed with glorious weather. It was clearly evident the importance of the Italian Business Community in the region which was also recognised by the Lord Provost. Business was booming and I can envisage that the event will grow further as it offers a great promotional platform for Italian products. Certainly an experience to be shared.
We are delighted with the support from Scotland and the Italian community, like everything we have learned a lot from year one and we can’t wait to return next year and make it bigger and better.
